The Webkinz, which have been available for over 3 years, are only now getting their due. With nation-wide publicity on several morning shows and parents' magazines in December of 2006, Webkinz are now officially a super hit. Webkinz are one of the newest and hottest items for children of all ages. Made by Ganz, these plush animals are oh so soft and cuddly and waiting for your child to adopt them.
What is Webkinz? Webkinz animals come with a special Internet code so your child can interact with it online. The code lets you enter Webkinz World and bring your pet to life. Pet owners can name it, make it a home and even play games. Not recommended for children under 3.
After logging in, the adoption process begins and kids can name and learn all about their new Webkinz pet and print their adoption certificate. It is a wonderful world of learning activities .
There are rooms to build and design, trivia challenges to play and lots of arcade games too. You can shop for clothes, food, toys and furniture at the W shop. Regarding the magic "W", the original Webkinz did not have the embroidered "W" (found on the foot or rump) and so they are rarer and tend to sell for more. It is not an indication of authenticity though.
